  1. I have a few questions, what substrates do you recommend, how many light fixture should I use in a 6 foot long by 4 feet deep by 3 feet high, and where to place the light fixtures

    1. I will try to answer as best I can, however it will be brief in this little comment box. 🙂 I like to use a soil/sand mixture for substrate. Mine is about 60% soil/bark and 40% sand. Here in Florida we call it a sandy loam. The number of light fixtures needed varies depending on your ambient temps and basking distance. You want to achieve a surface (not air) basking temp of approximately 130 degrees F. I can achieve it with one 160 watt mercury vapor MegaRay. Some people like to use a series of two or three halogens. place the fixtures all on one end of the enclosure to create a warm area. I have the basking area, water, living area on the warm side, and the hide on the cool side. You can also offer a hide on the cool and warm sides.

  2. Laura is so helpful. I am from Canada and it’s hard to get Tegus here. Laura was very responsive and did some research for me to find out how and when I can get some Tegus and the exact costs. I have already put a deposit down on a batch of Tegus from another seller. Had I met Laura earlier I would have had my Tegus already and for much cheaper price!
